Obituary for Joan N. Tucker

Joan N. Tucker, 86, of Carpendale and more recently a resident at The Lions Center,, died Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born August 29, 1931 in Ridgeley, she was the daughter of the late Harold B. and Edna J. (Eaton) Magruder.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale B. Tucker; granddaughter, Kelly (Nichols) Bailey; two brothers, Richard Magruder and Harold Magruder, Jr.; and her sister, Yvonne (Magruder) Simpson.

Survivors include her daughter, Yvonne Nichols and husband Bill, who was like a son to her; grandson Scott Nichols, wife Kris; great, grandchildren Skylar Martin Brady T. Nichols, and Emily Bailey; brother Wayne Magruder, and numerous family members.

Joan worked in the AVON office on Baltimore Street and was a representative for over 40 years. She was a member of Holy Cross United Methodist Church, loved going to BINGO, and cooking and baking for her family. She adored her family and gave endless love and support to them. She also loved all the holidays, but especially Christmas with the decorating and choosing and giving gifts.

Joan will be dearly missed, but she is at peace and once again reunited with her loving husband of 67 years.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Sunday from 1-4 PM. The funeral service will follow at 4 PM, with Rev. Richard Jewell, officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Honorary pallbearers will be William Nichols, Scott Nichols, Kris Nichols, Brady Nichols, Wayne Magruder, Jr., Chad Nichols, and Mike Fleming.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 619, Ridgeley, WV 26753.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Lions Center for the kind, compassionate care they provided to Joan.
