Obituary for William H. Ogilvie

Glen Burnie, MD-

William H. “Pop” Ogilvie, 90, of Glen Burnie, passed away at Hospice of the Chesapeake on May 10, 2018, after an eight month illness.

Born September 3, 1927, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Mary and William David Ogilvie.

He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Lee; and siblings, Lelia Virginia White, Ruth Louise Loar, E. Kenneth Ogilvie, David “Red” Martin Ogilvie, Robert Franklin Ogilvie, and Gary Allen Ogilvie.

He graduated from Allegany High School and then entered the U.S. Army, serving as a Corporal in the European Theatre. After the military, he worked as a carpenter in heavy construction; most recently as a superintendent for the Ceco Steel Corporation. He was a lifetime member of the Mid Atlantic Carpenters Local 132.

During his free time he loved to hunt and fish, play golf, and take care of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his three devoted sons: Gregory, Kevin, and William T. Ogilvie; his loving daughter Debbie Ogilvie; his dear sister Sandy Bishields; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

A service will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at 2 PM in M.S.V.C., Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
