William Stephen “Steve” Spooler, 74, of Cumberland, died Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born March 10, 1943 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late William Frank Spooler and Mary (Wolfe) Spooler.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Pam Knope.
Steve was a graduate of Fort Hill High School. He attended Allegany Community College and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Frostburg State College.
Steve had served an enlistment in the U.S. Navy.
He was retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company, having been a tire builder.
He was a faithful member of OLM-St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Spooler; one son, Michael Keith Spooler; and, two grandchildren, Michael Spooler and Natasha Kimmell. He also leaves behind a special friend, Jerry Hammond.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Monday from 6-8 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at OLM-St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 AM.
Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, where military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post #13 Honor Guard.
